Mr. Stephen Borg is a Director of Assure Food and Water Safety Consulting and registered medical laboratory scientist working in the field of food and water microbiology. Prior to joining Assure Co. Ltd. in 2006, he worked for 16 years in a food safety laboratory occupying various positions. Stephen has also worked for a short period of time in various clinical laboratories in a local hosipital.

He holds a Masters of Health Science in Environmental Health and a Post Qualification Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science both from the University of Malta. He also holds a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science from the Department of Health in Malta. His research focused upon Legionella in water systems found in the hospitality and health care industry. He also concentrated on the development of risk assessments and Legionella management systems.

Over the years, Stephen has attended various training programmes overseas focusing on food safety issues, laboratory food and water testing and identification of pathogens.

He is now determined to use the experience gained to provide assistance to the local food and leisure industry in order to comply with the applicable legislation and standards.
